Full names are used in certain personal ceremonies, such as a Mateship, Naming, or Passing. They may also be used to introduce one's self, although the tradition may confuse some clueless Wanderers. One may also add other large events in their life to the end of the name. Canidae may omit certain things if they wish to.
I am Canidae Caninae {Tribe} {Genus} {Species} {Subspecies} {Last*} {First}, {General Order} and {Order} of {Pack}.
And one will often continue
Born of {Birthplace}, now of {Residence}, sired by {Father** ***} and beared by {Mother** ***}, litter {sister/brother***} to {#/Names}, {beared if female, sired if male} {#} {pups or kits***} {to if female, of if male} {Mates}, {#} deceased. {Status}. Seen {#} moons. {Other Large Events}.
Almandine's Introduction - "I am Canidae Caninae Vulpini Vulpes Vulpes II Regalis Almandine, High Fang and High Alpha of Rebel's Reign, born of Genten, now of Tanisawa. Litter-sister to Azot. Beared no pups, Unmated. Much of my kin was killed in the Disaster at Genten.
*Not all Canidae have Last Names. If not, it is simply skipped.
**Not all Canidae choose to include their parents or pups in the name. If they are dead, some choose to replace it with "{Sire/Bearer} deceased."
***Canidae have their full name memorized, along with their parents' and pups'. Some also have their siblings'.
The practice of Origins is an old tradition dating back to when Hanso and Hanka were alive.
An Origin is a Canidae who
1. Is directly descended from Canidae who were in the pack when Hanso and Hanka were the High Fangs
2. Both parents are the same species, or species and subspecies aka "purebred"
The purpose of the Origins was to keep the lines of Canidae separate, and create more diversity within the pack.
Some Origins wish to continue the tradition and only breed with others who share their species, but most of the pack seems to be leaving this tradition behind. Also, as one would expect, Full Names are very hard to use when one is not "purebred", so that tradition is also dying.
