After Hanso and Hanka, many Alphas lived and died. The pack had it's ups and downs, but always recovered. They lived happily in the land of Genten, the mountainous lands where Mountain Reign had lived before them.
In these old ages of Rebel's Reign, there were many Origins, who were canidae who were only allowed (or only allowed themselves) to mate with their own species, to keep purity. In fact, there were more Origin Canidae then hybrid canidae. (Today, Origin refers to purebreds.)
A famine struck the mountains, and seven storms rocked the lands. A large mudslide slipped into the small valley hollow where the pack dwelled, killing almost the entire pack. Most Canidae had been resting in their dens from the storms. Some had been hunting or patrolling, and returned to find the camp was a mudpit. They dug up only stones and corpses.
All of the survivors were Origins.
With no other choice, the survivors turned south to the land of Tanisawa. Only a few days travel away, they knew it was their best chance.
By the time they arrived and found a suitable camp, only a few Canidae remained. Some left to be Wanderers or to beg at the doors of humans.
Some were killed by bears, cougars, or each other, and some wished to stay and die on the grave of their brethren.
They found a suitable camp, and began their new life.
The new population was so low that the Origin law was revoked, to promote new life, and the Sacred Names were refreshed, besides the Ancestors' Lineage.
Thus, ending the Age of Genten.
Almandine was one of the Alphas during the disaster, the previous Alpha and the Beta perished in the mudslide.
Almandine and Rusty are the first alphas of the Age of Tanisawa.
