Hunting Scenarios

Scenarios are used for hunting patrols involving two or more participants on large prey. For individual hunts of small game, flip a coin to determine success (heads) or failure (tails), and roleplay accordingly.

Successful
Summer
For rolling a 1
Your party finds an easy target, one famished from the intense heat and it seems to be on the verge of dehydration. But while pinning it down a member of the party sustains a mild injury, as they came too close to ill-fated creature as the is was trying to squirm free.
For rolling a 2
You can’t seem to find a single waft of prey, but a member of the hunting party stumbles upon a fresh scent trail. At last, you find a small group of the prey you were seeking!
For rolling a 3
The target is surrounded, and your ambush is a success. But, it is undecided to who will make the first attack, due to bad planning. Oops.
For rolling a 4
The creature you’re seeking seems to be grazing, and your party is able to successfully take it down by surprise. But this target in particular seems to be somewhat scrawny, and won't feed as many Canidae as you would have hoped.
For rolling a 5
Unfortunately, a member in your party sustains a serious injury, in any way you choose.
For rolling a 6
Your hunt is a success, but after chasing your target down you’re all overheated and need to rest in shade to cool off, and are delayed in your return.
Fall
For rolling a 1
As you and your party begin to creep up on your target you’re unable to keep quiet with the excessive amount of leaves covering the ground, alerting your prey. Fortunately, one of your party members is set up in the direction your target runs to and herds it back your way.
For rolling a 2
Congratulations, your party successfully takes the target down, but one Rebel ceases to participate fully in the hunt. They may take a social hit. No training point will be counted if this member is a Trainee.
For rolling a 3
You successfully take down your prey, but one member sustains a mild injury.
For rolling a 4
After you and your party dispatch of your target, one member decides to dig in for themselves. It seems their hunger has got the best of them, as the season turns colder. No training point will be counted if this member is a Trainee.
For rolling a 5
Your prey puts up a fight with your party, but manages to take it down. One member returns to camp with a mild injury.
For rolling a 6
You and your party have the rare opportunity of a clean hunt; without consequences. Good work, lucky dog!
Winter
For rolling a 1
A huge snow storm breaks out in the middle of the hunt leaving you and your party barely able to see a yard in front of you, but you are able to track down a target using your sense of smell despite the occurrence blizzard, the snow is fresh enough that it hasn't blocked out the scents.
For rolling a 2
Your prey leaves tracks in the snow, making it easy for your party to track it down.
For rolling a 3
One of your party members sustains a serious injury, but your party is able to kill the target, and fortunately is able to send another party member ahead to camp with the injured while the rest successfully drag the food home.
For rolling a 4
As you drag your catch through the snow, you pass by a tree with snow piled up on each branch, and unfortunately a branch falls on top of one of your party members and they sustain a mild gash.
For rolling a 5
Thankfully your party takes down the target, only to realize that it is very scrawny and only has enough meat on it to feed a few Rebels.
For rolling a 6
After the prey is killed, one of the party members notices their packmate is shaking. It's too cold here for them, and they can't make the journey home unassisted. They will have to rest in the Shaman's den.
Spring
For rolling a 1
Unfortunately, it begins to rain heavily clearing out all scents of prey. Fortunately, you spot a target distracted in it's search for shelter.
For rolling a 2
One of your party members spots a weak target that seemed to have strayed away from it’s mother, looks like it will be an easy kill, if you want to break the High Fang Orders. You may roll both dice again if you wish.
For rolling a 3
You and your hunting party have a successful, clean kill this time. How lucky!
For rolling a 4
You and your hunting party have a successful, clean kill this time. How lucky!
For rolling a 5
Right as you all begin to drag the fresh kill home, a half-starved large predator rushes over to you, and it seems to have its offspring trailing behind it. What next?
You may roll both dice again if you wish.
For rolling a 6
After your target has been taken down, it suddenly gets up and attempts to bolt away from you and your party leaving one of you with a mild injury. Fortunately, you all manage to take it down.
Failed
Summer
For rolling a 1
You and your hunting party successfully track down your target but, unfortunately, while chasing it your party begins to become exhausted from the heat and have failed to catch pace of the animal.
For rolling a 2
While a member taking place in the hunt pins down your prey, it struggles free. Caught off-guard, you fail to recapture the creature.
For rolling a 3
As you start to startle your prey, another one of its associates begins to fight back and two of your members sustain a serious injury while trying to fight back.
Back to camp, stat!
For rolling a 4
It seems as if your party was not cautious enough! A large predator approaches your kill and unluckily one of your participants undergoes a mild injury.
For rolling a 5
Once you track down your prey, a large predator has gotten to the target before your party does.
For rolling a 6
You and your party are unable to find any prey, maybe next time.
You must return empty-pawed.
Fall
For rolling a 1
You’re stalking your target but unfortunately you alert it with the crinkling of leaves coming from your pawsteps, good job.
For rolling a 2
You successfully take down your target, but the smell of fresh kill attracted a large predator, and you are too tired to put up enough of a fight, but luckily nobody is foolish enough to be injured. Maybe next time you’ll be more discreet.
For rolling a 3
There is an usual scent in the air and your party encounters a large predator and a party member sustains a mild injury.
For rolling a 4
Your prey fights back straining all of your remaining energy leaving you with no choice but to return to the camp empty-pawed.
For rolling a 5
You’re unable to detect a single whiff of prey.
For rolling a 6
A member of your party is not cautious enough and startles your target.
Winter
For rolling a 1
Your target spots you as you advance and flees with surprising speed.
For rolling a 2
Your prey hears the snow crunch while you and your party sneak up and begins to flee, warning all of the others surrounding it.
For rolling a 3
A member of your party receives a serious injury and you are forced to return to camp for medical attention.
For rolling a 4
A blizzard begins and you are unable to see due to the immense amount of falling snow.
For rolling a 5
Scents are blocked due to the snow. Better luck next time.
For rolling a 6
You run into a large predator and two Rebels sustain mild gashes.
Spring

It's a rainy day, and it seems that all the scents of prey have been washed out making it impossible to find any
traceable trails.
For rolling a 2
As you take down your prey a large predator with it’s young trailing behind comes to take your kill, how unfortunate.
For rolling a 3
A thunderstorm settles on the hunting grounds. You are all forced to return for your safety, you won't find any prey like this anyway.
For rolling a 4
There has just been faint sights of a possible target ahead, after searching for hours you are desperate to follow any scent trails, but unfortunately you and your party are too exhausted to carry on.
For rolling a 5
Many hours have gone by and there is still no sign of your prey, but upon further inspection a member in your hunting party is able to single out an unfamiliar scent and you desperately follow. The trail leads you to a den with a set of eyes watching your every move (large predator). One of your party members receives a serious gash.

You and your party run into a large predator who is obviously pregnant. She is also very angry.
